Colts Coaching Team Leader

Post Role:
The Lead Coach has the potential to be a highly influential figure in players’ lives. You’re responsible for training the team in order to facilitate the players achieving their potential in preparation for not only matches, but more importantly for personal development. It’s an exciting, rewarding and active way of staying in the game and lets you have a direct influence on performance. You must be willing to obtain a Level 3 RFU coaching Qualification(if you do not have one) with assistance from the club and keep yourself updated on all the new game rule changes and coaching techniques. You must be able to be a figure of respect and inspiration to your squad, passing on knowledge about the game
and acting as a role model. Be an active member of the Salisbury RFC in the wider respect, giving support to other sections of the club and being proactive socially.

Post Purpose:

As Lead Team Coach, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of your squad of players and Colts coaching Group.

Liaise with the following:

Club Director of Rugby, Club Head Coach and Club Coaching Coordinator.

Within your defined area of coaching responsibility ensure that every player receives appropriate coaching at team and individual level.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify a seasonal training program that has clearly defined objectives, structured training sessions, achievable goals and inherent procedures for monitoring and measuring outcomes.
  • To manage and coordinate the activities of the coaching group by communicating your coaching strategy and ensuring they are qualified to work in support of you by establishing agreed CPD programs for them, as required
  • To implement club coaching policy by cooperative working with the Director of Rugby, Senior XV coach and Club Coaching Coordinator
  • Develop players through the Colts program for progression and retention into senior rugby at Salisbury RFC
  • Maintaining, communicating and demonstrating the RFU Core Values

Duties:
  • Plan and run safe, effective training sessions
  • Retain players and work with relevant volunteers to recruit players
  • Build team spirit and encourage participation
  • Develop individuals’ skill, confidence and fitness
  • Select the team and set the tactics
  • Work with the Club Coaching Coordinator to continue your coaching development
  • Promote fair play, team standards and codes of conduct
  • Reflect in all activities Club policy and philosophy

Personal Qualities:
You will need to 
  • Demonstrate an up to date knowledge of the game
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to establish a CPD program for your development
  • Confident and good at communicating with your squad and assistant coaches
  • Be committed to fair play
  • Be a self motivated, well organized and good timekeeper
  • Be approachable and good with people in general
  • Maintain an appropriate level of fitness

What you will get out of it:
Coaching is a great way to stay fit and pass on your knowledge of the game. Acting as a role model and inspiration to a group of young people and seeing them grow and develop is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your spare time.  It’s a highly respected role in the Club and above all it’s really good fun, especially at Salisbury RFC.
